![]() ![]() Example: I traveled around Europe for 6 weeks this fall, but the only foreign language I know is Spanish. If you can identify a problem in your life or something you see around you, think about how you could design a solution to that problem that you think other people would benefit from. Passion is contagious, possibility is exciting, and community is making things happen.Ī lot of people ask the question “Am I an Entrepreneur?” or “How can I become an Entrepreneur?” The entrepreneurial mindset is an invaluable quality acquired by osmosis. After starting a conversation with a team I see people’s eyes light up with a contagious enthusiasm when explaining their idea and how it’s going disrupt their market. When Franck says we’re trying to 'Democratize Entrepreneurship’ I really begin to understand why this is such a possible vision by the passion I see at every event.Īt SoSummit, my friend Alejandro was astounded that “there were so many crazy people who are as excited about entrepreneurship as I am.” That just about sums it up. I’ve spent my last couple events walking around checking on and giving feedback to teams who needed help. It’s honestly incredible going to an event, forming a team with people you’ve never met and using your joint skills, resources and connections to breathe life into your idea. Yeah people talk and have fun, but the problem solving mentality and can-do attitude is what makes things happen and what changes the world. The phrase ‘No Talk, All Action’ is seriously applicable. ![]() Startup Weekend brings communities together to foster a culture of doers. Because of the event’s collaborative nature, it’s really easy to meet people, and spending a weekend with your team building something you all believe in is an incredible experience to share that can lead to lasting relationships and partnerships.ģ. People come to Startup Weekend from many different backgrounds and disciplines. It’s an entrepreneurial workshop where you come to learn by doing and working together with people who are excited to build something awesome.Ģ. Having volunteered at, participated in, and now organized a Startup Weekend, these are a few of my takeaways:ġ. To those of you who have never been to a Startup Weekend, anyone you ask will likely try to describe it as “an amazing event” where “you start a company in 54 hours, and meet interesting people in your community,” and is usually followed by “you should go to the next event!!” It’s hard to articulate the value of Startup Weekend without having shared the experience. Every event I learn something new, meet new people, and renew my enthusiasm Startup Weekend’s mission to help democratize entrepreneurship. This was my 8th event I’ve been to, so I guess you could say I’m becoming a Startup Weekend junkie. Last weekend I helped out at the Startup Weekend at the Facebook campus in Seattle. ![]()
